Head-to-head comparison

AssetLab vs Octave Attune

Attune is the new name for HxGN EAM, formerly Infor EAM: a mature enterprise EAM with an APM layer for sensor-driven failure prediction, now sold by Octave after its 2026 spin-off from Hexagon.

Below: what changed in the rename, where Attune is the stronger choice, and where a lighter platform with published CAD pricing fits better.

The short answer

Which one fits your team?

Choose AssetLab if you need

  • Municipalities, school boards and facility owners managing buildings and infrastructure
  • Teams that want condition, FCI and capital planning next to maintenance in one product
  • Buyers who need published CAD pricing for a budget or council report
  • Organizations without IT staff or an integrator budget for a partner-led rollout
  • Canadian organizations that want Customer Data hosted in Canada

Consider Octave Attune if you need

  • Large utilities, transit, energy and process plants with instrumented assets
  • Operations that want ML failure prediction from historian and sensor data (APM)
  • Enterprises integrating with SAP, Maximo or AVEVA PI
  • Organizations that need deep inventory, procurement and materials management
  • Buyers who require an on-premise deployment option

Octave publishes no Attune prices. Third-party estimates disagree by an order of magnitude, so we do not repeat them: ask for a quote that includes implementation and partner services.

Why teams choose AssetLab

Where AssetLab goes further than Octave Attune

Prices You Can See

AssetLab CMMS from $45 and AssetLab 360 at $65 CAD per user per month, published. Every Attune edition is quoted, and partner implementation is priced on top.

Live During the Trial

Import your asset register and issue work orders in the free trial. Attune is typically a partner-led project; Octave’s Gruppo CAP case study took ten months to go live.

Capital Planning in the Same Product

Condition scores, FCI, LoF × CoF risk and long-range replacement forecasts sit beside work orders on AssetLab 360. Octave sells portfolio and capital controls as a separate product, Sequence Enterprise.

Built for Public-Sector Owners

Municipalities, school boards and facility portfolios that have no sensor historians would leave most of an APM licence unused. AssetLab is sized for that buyer.

Canadian Data Residency

Customer Data - asset records, work orders, costs, documents, contracts, attachments and audit logs - is hosted in Canada (AWS ca-central-1, Montreal), together with its backups. Some supporting services process data in the United States; the Trust Center lists each one. Octave publishes no Canadian data residency commitment for Attune.

Easier to Adopt

Ease of use is the most common complaint in HxGN EAM reviews. AssetLab is a modern web app with native iOS and Android apps for technicians.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is Octave Attune?

Attune is the asset management suite from Octave, the company Hexagon spun off in May 2026. It comes in three editions: Attune EAM (work orders, inventory, procurement, cost), Attune APM (risk, condition monitoring and failure prediction from sensor and historian data) and Attune Facilities. The names changed on March 2, 2026; Octave says functionality and contracts did not.

Is Attune EAM the same as HxGN EAM and Infor EAM?

Yes. Attune EAM is the product previously sold as HxGN EAM, which Hexagon acquired as Infor EAM in 2021. Its roots go back to Datastream 7i. HxGN APM became Attune APM and HxGN EAM Facilities Edition became Attune Facilities.

How much does Octave Attune cost?

Octave does not publish Attune pricing; every edition is quoted. Third-party estimates vary too widely to rely on, so ask Octave or its partners for a quote that includes implementation. AssetLab publishes its prices: AssetLab CMMS from $45 CAD per user per month and AssetLab 360, which adds FCI, risk and capital planning, at $65 CAD per user per month.

How long does an Attune implementation take?

Attune is usually implemented with a certified partner. Octave’s own Gruppo CAP case study describes going live after ten months. AssetLab is self-serve: you can import an asset register and start issuing work orders during the free trial.

When is Attune a better fit than AssetLab?

Choose Attune if you run sensor-instrumented plant or a large utility and want APM: machine-learning failure prediction on historian data, prebuilt connectors to SAP, Maximo and AVEVA PI, deep inventory and procurement, or an on-premise deployment. AssetLab does not do sensor-based predictive maintenance.

When is AssetLab a better fit than Attune?

AssetLab suits municipalities, school boards and facility owners who need work orders, preventive maintenance, condition scoring, FCI and long-range replacement planning in one product, with published CAD pricing, Customer Data hosted in Canada, and native iOS and Android apps, without a partner-led project.
